Aussie Surf Culture Beach Tour

Tour Snapshot

Follow in the footprints of an Australian surf lifesaver as you go on an exclusive, behind the scenes visit at a local Sunshine Coast Surf Club.

On arrival you are welcomed by a Live It Tours representative who takes you into the club house where you are introduced to the volunteer surf lifesavers. Learn about the history of the club and hear some of the amazing stories of what it was like in the early days. You are then taken to the active member’s area of the surf club; a bustling hive of activity where the volunteer lifesavers are either participating in training programs or getting ready for their rostered patrols.

With the pristine white beach and clear blue waters in view, it’s time to meet more of the lifesavers, who are you’re your coaches on the day. Learn first hand about the surf craft and equipment used in performing rescues and how they are used for different rescue scenarios and to keep beach goers safe.

Next you venture down onto the beach near the red and yellow flags ready to participate in a range of surf lifesaving activities. Depending on the surf and weather conditions, there are a variety of surf lifesaving activities to take part in. Some of these include, learning how to perform a paddle board or tube rescue, participating in a mock rescue or enjoying beach flag races. And if you’d prefer, you can just watch a rescue demonstration by our volunteer surf lifesavers and you don’t even have to get wet!

After this amazing experience of following in the footprints of the surf lifesavers and learning the important skills required of these passionate and selfless volunteers, it’s time for a nice warm shower to freshen up. Then head back upstairs to the surf club and kick back and relax as you enjoy a sumptuous surf club meal and thirst quenching beverage. Unwind and enjoy the spectacular ocean and beach views of, to put it quite simply, of one of the best beaches to be found in the world. Both thrilling and insightful, Aussie Surf Culture Beach Tour is a unique, behind the scenes Sunshine Coast experiences that cannot be found anywhere else!

Tours currently run every Saturday at The Surf Club Mooloolaba.
